Youth Orchestra Auditions

Audition Requirements

The elements required of you will now be required scales and 1 minute – 1.5 minutes of your prepared piece only. There will be no sight reading.

Violin Scale Requirements

USYO – The A Major scale (3 octive) with arpeggio and the melodic minor scale (2 octave) and arpeggio of the students choice. (slurred 4 for the scales and 3 for the arpeggio)

Prelude – D Major scale (2 octave) with arpeggio and the melodic minor scale (1 octave) and arpeggio of the students choice. (all 2 octave, slurred 4 for the scales and 3 for the arpeggio)

Viola Scale Requirements

C Major scale (3 octave for USYO; 2 octave for Prelude) with arpeggio and the melodic minor scale (2 octave for USYO; 1 octave for Prelude) and arpeggio of the students choice. ( slurred 4 for the scales and 3 for the arpeggio)
