Symphonic Reverie (Season Opener) In Memory of W. Frank Dowd, III
In Memory of W. Frank Dowd, III
Raucous joy rings in USO’s 19th season with Beethoven’s seventh symphony. Come and share in a symphony that Beethoven himself described as “one of my best works…” and one that Carl Maria von Weber deemed that the composer “must be ripe for the madhouse…”
Principal oboe Javier Perez presents the velvety timbre of the oboe d’amore with Telemann’s concerto. Round off the evening with a magical and moving work by Elena Katz-Chernin, written in collaboration with the Hush Foundation with the purpose of transforming healthcare and healing through the arts.
