Let the Union Symphony Orchestra rock you to your core with dramatic works by iconic composers. Operatic death and deception, and the four most famous notes in all of music are sure to shake the ground beneath your feet. Mozart’s Don Giovanni overture — a visceral and soul trembling work coined by the composer the morning of its premier — foretells the German masters’ obsession with destiny. Beethoven then wrestles with his mortal time in his most famous work, the fifth symphony, where four famous notes vividly depict fate knocking at the door. Additionally, we unveil the Dowd Piano with a performance by local piano virtuoso, David Brooks, in his mastery of Joseph Haydn’s most famous D major piano concerto. The piano is a gift to Union Symphony In Loving Memory of W. Frank Dowd, III. This opening season performance will take place at the City of Monroe Dowd Center Theatre.
