Union Symphony Orchestra
The Notes That Changed the World
In Memory of W. Frank Dowd, III

It was a beautiful evening in downtown Monroe last Saturday night for the USO performance of The Notes That Changed the World. Guests who attended the performance as well as USO musicians could be spotted at all the local eateries.

David Brooks displayed exemplary improvisational skills and top form showmanship in his rendition on the Dowd Piano of Haydn’s Piano Concerto in D Major, Hob. XVIII: 11. This concert was dedicated to the memory of W. Frank Dowd, III. Anne Dowd, her family and guests, were in attendance. Mrs. Dowd shared how happy she was that the piano had a new home with the Union Symphony. The orchestra’s performance of Mozart’s Overture to Don Giovanni and L. Van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 completed the evening.
