Javier Perez

JAVIER PEREZ, principal oboist of the Union Symphony Orchestra, is a professional musician from Caracas, Venezuela. He began playing with the Venezuela Symphony Youth Orchestra “El Sistema” where he had the opportunity to study with Albrecht Mayer, principal Oboe at Berlin Philharmonic, Omar Zoboli from the Berlin Conservatoire and the legendary Pierre Pierlot, retired professor from Paris  conservatoire. During his final thirteen years in Venezuela he was co-principal oboe with the Venezuela National Philharmonic Orchestra.

Javier Perez migrated to North Carolina in 2002. Ever since he arrived he has played in more than 160 churches. He has been featured as a guest soloist with the Charlotte Concert Band, Ballantyne Chamber Orchestra, Union Symphony and many others.

Perez has played for the Salisbury Symphony, the South Carolina Philharmonic, Ballantyne Chamber Orchestra, Western Piedmont Symphony, Charlotte Philharmonic, Rock Hill Symphony, Central Piedmont Opera Orchestra and the Union Symphony where he currently serves as the Principal Oboe.

Perez is an interpreter with DSS Union County. He is married and has four children.
