In the early l980’s, Donna Hill led the formation of a group interested in providing a place for music enthusiasts to rehearse and perform. They became the Union Symphony. Regular concerts and events were held until September 11, 2001 when Union Symphony, due to the economy, suffered dwindling resources and became dormant. In 2005, a task force was convened and successfully restored the Union Symphony by forming a new Board, Chair, Members, Executive Director, and by adopting by-laws and initiating the process of incorporation. With a funding grant from the Union County Community Arts Council, the first concert was presented in May of 2006, under the direction of Dr. Kenney Potter, who served as founding artistic director of the new charter.
