Union Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director & Conductor Richard Rosenberg, gave a riveting performance including Stravinsky, The Song of the Nightingale; Raymond Scott, Powerhouse and others; and Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Capriccio Italienne. They were joined by the Union Symphony Youth Orchestra, Music Director Tom LaJoie, to perform Igor Stravinsky, Berceuse & Finale from The Firebird. The Union Symphony Orchestra Prelude (Junior Youth Orchestra), Music Director Sabrina Howard, gave a lovely performance in the rotunda. The event took place at the symphony artistic home, The Batte Center at Wingate University.
On behalf of the Union Symphony Board, many thanks to Richard Rosenberg, TomLaJoie, Sabrina Howard, Dave Markgraf, John Davis, the USYO Staff (also onstage as part of USO), our beautiful and talented USO Musicians and USYO Student Musicians, USYO Advisory Board, USYO Families, our Community Partners, Joe Shannon and staff at The Batte Center of Wingate University, Frank Dominguez and WDAV, August Lily for the beautiful flowers, our symphony patrons and friends in attendance (such a lovely, responsive audience) David and Shelly Nelms and our friends at Pipe Organ Service Carolina for the lovely reception—and last but certainly not least—our symphony season sponsors, Matthew and Stephanie Belk and our friends at Better Car People and Big Ring Interactive.
It was another impressive leap forward for Union Symphony—and truly an evening to remember!
